I should've worked late tonight, but I left to join some other engineers for happy hour--justifying it to myself because it is really professional networking. Work-related, right?

Telling said married engineer about our chili cookoff, he laughed at such typical engineer behavior and then promised to email his favorite chili recipe to me. Turns out, he's a University of Cincinnati graduate so we also had a good chat about authentic Cincinnati chili. It was a good couple hours, even if it did not fufill my primary objective. Hey--I should get partial credit for trying, right?
