What is the point of using the speakerphone feature on your cell phone while driving if you’re holding the cell phone right in front of your mouth?

Great speaker, lousy mike?
Maybe. It sure defeats the hands-free purpose of a speakerphone!
Yeah. My cell phone is about 5 years old. I'd like to get one with a speaker for the times that I'm driving and have to listen to but not participate in a teleconference. However, the phone companies have succeeded in baffling me about what it would take to upgrade.... not to mention, pricing my frugal (for which read: cheap) self out of the market.
