Wisdom

R is coming back in January. Less than six months in Florida and she hates her job and the climate. She was home for Christmas and I met her for lunch yesterday. One of our former coworkers came along with her four-year-old son Noah. As R described why she hated her job in Florida, Noah said, “Everyone makes mistakes.”

Out of the mouths of babes.

Have yourself a merry little...

2005 Christmas Tree
Originally uploaded by angineer.
My memories of when I'm most at peace all revolve around Christmas, whether it is sitting in the dark appreciating our lit Christmas tree or listening to Santa reports on the radio headed home on Christmas Eve.

This year was the first year I had my own Christmas tree and the first chance I had to display the ornaments I've carefully collected over the past five years. I enjoyed a little journey through time as I hung them on the tree.

May you enjoy the peace of this season as I am... merry Christmas!

Rhetorical question

How many emails do you get from a client that end with the sentence “D’oh.”?

Distance

I didn't remember her voice being so whiny, I thought as she tried to pick up his conversation.

"What were you saying about the cabana boy?" she asked.

"He says you want a cabana boy and I told him it was only fair if you get a cabana boy that he gets a Hooters girl."

Our conversation continued fitfully, remarks tumbling over each other with uncomfortable silences in between, covering conversational bases from why men like lesbians to holiday decorations.

Finally she handed the phone back to T. I wished him safe travels on their upcoming trip, fully believing that when he comes back, I'll have lost him forever.
